Our company was established in 1999, during a period when the food industry in the EU and the USA was experiencing numerous scandals (mad cow disease, dioxins etc). The disasters caused to both people and environment by the intensification of the conventional farming and its mass-production rates inspired the creation of such a company aiming to build a healthier relationship between man and nature. Our company is a family business which consists of four medical doctors, two engineers and a teacher.

Our family holds both the scientific knowledge on nutritional problems and the professional experience which is needed for the production of qualitative and healthy food. Our origin from Thassos island, Northern Greece, has influenced our decision to produce olive oil and associated products, such as olive pate, edible olives, soap etc., all of which derive from organic and conventional farming but in any case not intensified.
The main product of VI.EL.THA CO is the "Cardiofilo". This is an organic extra virgin olive oil, produced from biologically cultivated olive trees exclusively on the island of Thassos. Therefore, it enjoys a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status. We also produce olive oil from conventional farming which is named Chrysolado, has a golden colour and also enjoys a Protected Designation of Origin status.
